Jewelry that belonged to Marie Antionette is on display in New York before it heads to auction in Geneva, Switzerland.
British auction house Sotheby’s described the jewels as “one of the most important royal jewelry collections ever to come to auction.”
The pieces on display are part of a bigger collection that also includes other items from the dynasty.
The collection belongs to the Bourbon Parma family, descendants of French royalty dating back to Louis XIV.
Sotheby's says it's auctioning a set of natural pearls that once belonged to the famed — or infamous — French queen Marie Antoinette, and have not been seen in public for two centuries. (Oct. 12)
