The man allegedly owned the gun the boy had been playing with before it went off on Sunday, striking the boy in the hand. A man has been charged with child endangerment after a 12-year-old boy shot himself while playing with a gun in Rosemoor on the South Side.

Willie Richard, 55, is charged with two felony counts of unauthorized use of a weapon, one felony count of being an armed habitual criminal and a misdemeanor count of child endangerment, Chicago police said.
