Tents in Dublin city centre are now generally acknowledged to be a bad idea. They’re unsanitary — tent dwellers have little option but to use the streets as a public toilet — and they’re unsafe both for those in the tents but also many people living and working in the vicinity of these makeshift encampments, who rightly or wrongly feel threatened by them.
