Wendy Alexander/The Madera TribuneGurpreet “Guri” Singh of Pizza Factory tosses fresh pizza dough during a grand opening event Thursday.Pizza Factory opened its doors to the residents of Madera a month ago, and held its grand opening Thursday morning. Those who arrived early enough were treated to gifts in celebration of the event. The eatery, on the northeast corner of Cleveland and Schnoor avenues, is situated between Smart and Final and the Marine Corps recruiting station.

New affordable flats in a housing estate have been given the go ahead after councillors were told they would be built off-site and craned into place. Ark Housing Association plans to build 12 flats on land in Windsor Square, Penicuik, using a modular system which will see blocks built in a factory.
