San Francisco's Mission District erupted this weekend with the sights, sounds and smells of Carnaval. The holiday, which celebrates the full spectrum of Latin American and Caribbean cultures, took over the Mission this weekend on Harrison Street between 16th and 24th Streets, with stages featuring all varieties of performers and 48 different food vendors. Rodrigo Durán, executive director of the event, was born and raised in the Mission, and has been participating in the parade since childhood....
